Twinkletoes About Us

I have enjoyed dancing all my life and in fact first started at the age of three. My passion continued throughout my childhood and teenage years achieving both qualification as a student and recognition teaching both tap and ballet.

My career then took a different direction and I was lucky enough to see parts of the world that I probably wouldn’t otherwise have seen working for ten years as an air stewardess. Whilst still involving myself with dancing at any opportunity I was enjoying my time with the airline until one day I received an inspirational letter from a close friend suggesting that I started tap classes for adults. It was the nudge I needed to turn my true passion into a career and Twinkletoes was born in 2006. Having enjoyed a close relationship with Otterbourne Village Hall for many years choreographing their pantomime and summer shows it seemed the ideal venue for my new business. Starting with one adult tap and one child movement to music class per week, Twinkletoes until recently offered over twenty classes per week with age groups varying from children as young as 18 months to the more mature. The relationship with the Otterbourne Village Hall productions has continued and provides an enjoyable challenge both in the number of routines to be choreographed and again, the diversity of age groups. The challenge has been rewarded with a number of prestigious nominations and awards including the Curtain Call best Pantomime award.

My choreography has spanned a period of 20 years for various organisations and in addition to my dance classes held at the village hall I have also taught at St Swithuns boarding school in Winchester and after school dance clubs for 5 – 7 year olds locally.

The desire for new and innovative fitness classes presented another opportunity for Twinkletoes receiving tremendous support over the past years running classes at Bodysound Gym. Dance can also find its way into recuperation and I get great personal satisfaction running several sessions dancing with adults who have suffered strokes. This combined with choreographing original routines for family parties, a wedding dance and children’s parties makes for a very busy but hugely enjoyable and rewarding life
